Civil War letter, 1862 Apr. 15.

Oliver H. Lowry's letter to his cousin describing the battle of Shiloh, Tenn. (also called Battle of Pittsburg Landing), fought a week previous (6-7 Apr. 1862) including the unexpected attack on the morning of the 6th by the Confederate Army on a concentration of Union troops at Pittsburg Landing and the fierce fighting on the second day and the losses his regiment endured.
